Yvette Nieves, Ph.D.

College Academic Coach

Yvette earned her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology specializing in Child and Adolescent Development. She is currently an adjunct college professor, teaching Psychology and Spanish. She is experienced in synchronous, asynchronous, and brick-and-mortar teaching.

Yvette began her career in education as a classroom teacher, teaching Middle and High School Spanish. Born and raised in New Jersey, she is a certified teacher in New Jersey and Florida. She transitioned from classroom teaching to school administration, and later, to higher education.

She has experience as an Academic Success Center Coordinator in higher education. In that role, she shared resources, presented workshops to students, and worked with students directly to help them overcome some of the challenges they faced as they pursued their college degrees. It was also in that role that she knew helping and seeing students thrive is where her heart is.

Yvette is a single mom and when she is not helping students maximize their academic potential, she is spending time with her children and doing all she can to live her best life.
