Carrie Herstine, M.Ed.
Middle and High School Coach
Carrie has been an educator for 30 years as a teacher, lead mentor, instructional coach, and MTSS coordinator. She earned her Bachelor’s in education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Master’s in Literacy from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Carrie has been committed to building strong connections with fellow educators, students, and their families recognizing that collaboration is key to meeting the diverse needs of students.
By partnering with teachers from elementary through secondary, she has implemented effective strategies that cater to a wide range of learning styles and abilities. As MTSS coordinator, Carrie’s priority was teaching students executive function strategies to improve their academic skills such as decision-making, managing their time, using school resources, organization, study strategies, and self-advocacy.
Carrie lives in Wilmington, North Carolina, and has two children. Bogan is studying Marine Technology and Henry is a successful middle school student. She loves living on the coast and being on the water. If she’s not on the water with her family, she is cheering on her son on the soccer field, reading, or making arts and crafts that relate to home improvement and decorating. Most importantly, Carrie is deeply committed to student success and looks forward to meeting your family!
