Joseph Bennett M.Ed.
Middle and High School Coach
Joseph “Joe” Bennett holds a Master’s degree in Special Education, Moderate Special Needs from American International College, and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Salem State University. His experience in co-teaching across various content areas at the high school level, along with vocational training and daily living skills, allows him to provide a well-rounded approach to supporting students. His work with students from middle through high school provides a strong adaptability and a broad understanding of different educational needs and developmental stages. Early in his career as a teacher, Joe was a member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard, serving as a sergeant with 1/182nd Infantry Division, one of the oldest regiments in the US Army.
Beyond his time in the classroom, Joe is the director of the driver education program and an instructor, providing both classroom and on-road instruction, over a career that’s spanned 20+ years. Whether it be in the classroom or a driving school vehicle, it’s the rewarding “aha!” moments when teaching, learning, and practice comes together for him and the students alike. Throughout his career, Joe has worked with hundreds of students by teaching the vital skills that help them organize, plan, prioritize, manage time, maintain focus, self-assess, and study/work efficiently.
Outside of school, you’ll often find Joe with his partner, Jenna, and their French bulldog, Izzy on hikes or kayaking throughout Massachusetts, Maine, and North Carolina. Joe also enjoys watching Boston’s championship teams, hockey being his top choice, as a long-time goalie and coach at the middle and high school levels.
