Jessica Marks, B.S., M.Ed.
Academic Coach
Jessica holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Special Education from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire and a Masters of Education degree in Reading Specialist from the University of Alaska Southeast. Jessica has nine years of experience in the classroom working with students with multiple disabilities, many of who struggle with executive functioning. Her three years as a Special Education Facilitator for the Bering Strait School District enabled her to hone in on her coaching skills as she supported district Special Education teachers both virtually and in person. Her approach is positive, strength-based, and student-centered. She works to identify the student’s current modus operandi as a starting point to identify where skill-building needs to take place. Jessica gets joy out of watching her students develop organization, planning, and timing strategies, find learning strategies that work for them and watch their confidence grow in the realization that they are in control.
Currently, Jessica is working to obtain her certification to become an Orton-Gillingham tutor. In her free time, Jessica can be found reading, trying new recipes, taking long walks with her dog, Rudy, and spending time with her family.
