Debby Couture M.A.

College Coach, Parent Coach

Debby has dedicated the past 20 years to supporting college students. Inspired by her own challenges as a first-generation college student, she embarked on a career in higher education. Her decade-long tenure at Stanford University exposed her to the diverse experiences of students from around the world, highlighting the pressures to succeed academically, culturally adapt, and meet high expectations.

Debby is passionate about empowering students to thrive. She excels in guiding students in time management, organization, self-advocacy, goal setting, and academic planning. She finds joy in helping students navigate the complexities of college life, from building relationships with professors and peers to overcoming obstacles and celebrating achievements. She enjoys witnessing the growth of her students’ self-esteem, confidence, and communication skills.

With a B.A. and M.A. in psychology, Debby brings a strong academic foundation to her work. Her personal experiences and professional expertise combine to create a supportive and understanding environment for the students she works with.

As a podcast host, she also shares her expertise by discussing the unique challenges college students face and providing parents with valuable insights into their children’s college experience. She offers practical strategies and helps them cope with these challenges in healthy and meaningful ways.

Debby lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband, three children, and their two fur-baby rescue dogs, Chip and Kita. Gardening, reading, and exploring nature are among her favorite pastimes. She loves to write when inspiration strikes (e.g., blogging and journaling), and peruse vintage shops and bookstores. Fun fact: She always wanted to learn how to play the piano and taught herself how to play in her early 40s – proving to herself that you’re never too old to learn something new.
